What to do, when it’s stifling hot and yet you need to go tactical and need all the tactical functionality of the UTP pants? Try the UTS, Urban Tactical Shorts. The cut and pocket layout allows them to stay civilian enough not to disclose the wearer’s identity, while still allowing room to wear a full set of tactical equipment. Elastic velcro-closed belt allows a measure of adjustment within the size. Large belt loops allow wide belts like EDC, UTL or Cobra. The cut prevents losing the shorts while wearing.

By the judicious layout of the pockets, equipment can be placed close to the center mass, around the hips and waist. Front and rear pockets edges are reinforced to withstand constant movement of light or knife clips. Two velcro-closed front pockets are big enough to carry a smartphone – or even an AR/AK rifle magazine. Thigh zippered pockets look flat – but its design allows pouches or wallets to be carried with ease. A wide variety of colors allows to match shorts to the rest of wardrobe or working conditions.

My New Favorite Shorts I own a pair of Helikon Urban Tactical Pants so I expected to love these and I was right. One problem I have with a lot of tactical pants/shorts is that they’re way too baggy. The Urban Tactical line is different and is more slim fitting and, in my opinion, much nicer looking than Blackhawk, 5.11, etc. The material is also pretty lightweight but still feels very tough. I also really like the two pockets that perfectly fit an AR mag or my cell phone.I’m 6′ 135 lbs, ie skinny, and the size Small fit perfectly if that helps anyone with sizing. Shipping took over two weeks from the UK but it was worth the wait.

Good shorts; needs a bigger “cell phone pocket” I have several pairs of tactical pants from 5.11 and Propper in various styles and materials. This is my first pair of shorts. These weren’t intended to be an elite tacticool short, but rather a short I can wear around the yard while doing yard work and in regular everyday life with plenty of room to store stuff, especially at amusement parks. The pants fit well. As others have stated, they are a slightly slimmer fit than most tactical pants. I’m 6’2″, 190, thinner build, so having something that fits my thinner legs is nice. The angled zip pockets are great for storing a cell phone, keys, etc. The front and rear pockets are also nice; no velcro or other retention on the rear, but they hold my wallet securely. The smaller pockets on the back are great for holding a small flashlight and knife. The velcro closure is nicer than I thought it would be. It gives me an easy extra inch for when I am carrying IWB, or when I have a big lunch. Or both…

Great looking and functional There’s not much I don’t like about these shorts, but the one thing I don’t like is the color I happened to pick out. I went with “adaptive green” and they’re about the least flattering color in the existence of color. I took the advice of others and bought 1 size up from what I would normally and that was perfect. I normally get a 32, which gives me some room in normal instances and I ordered a 34 in these and there’s no way I’d go down a size. The fabric feels very durable and I feel as though these will last me a while. I like that they have several belt loops, so that if you do like to wear a belt like I do, you don’t have an issue with the fabric bunching up and being uncomfortable. The assortment of pockets are all pretty handy as well. I would agree with another commenter that the pocket that seems to be the “phone” pocket is a little narrow for most phones these days. It’s difficult for me to find casual shorts I like to wear in general and these are definitely…
